Attempted Abduction Of Ukiah Girl

A 12 year old girl says a man attempted to abduct her while she was walking home from school in the 600 block of Dora Avenue on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. According to a press release issued by the Ukiah Police Department, the girl walked passed a white van parked on the street and the driver asked her to get inside the vehicle. She refused and as she continued walking, he followed her and kept trying to convince her to get into the van. The girl ran back to school for safety.

The driver was described as a white male adult age 30 to 40 with a full beard and dark hair, wearing dark sunglasses and a dark leather jacket. The vehicle was described as a white panel van, with a broken rear tail-light and porcelain dolls on the front passenger seat.

The Ukiah Police Department searched the area and was unable to locate the van or suspect. If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact the Ukiah Police Department Detective Division at 707-463-6262.

The Ukiah Police Department asks parents to remind students to follow safety tips that include not talking to strangers, sticking together, as there is safety in numbers, to practice self defense like a swift kick and loud scream, and to report an incident immediately.
