Russell Piti

Host

Russell Piti hosts "B Vitamins: Bach, the Baroque and Beyond" which broadcasts on alternating Monday mornings from 10am until 12 noon. With every program, he compiles a playlist of music that ranges from the Renaissance through the 21st century, with the music of Bach as the center-point. He enjoys researching the music and composers to provide the music-loving audience with amusement, insight and cultural enhancement.
In 1970, when Russell bought the record album, "Switched On Bach" by Wendy Carlos, he did not know then that the music on it was composed by Bach. He only knew it was a groundbreaking recording done completely on the new Moog Synthesizer. Never having heard the music of J. S. Bach before, the record changed his life - by selling his electric guitar and buying his first harpsichord kit, which he built during college in 1972, then built his second harpsichord ten years later; this all leading to a lifelong pursuit of classical music focused on the Baroque era and the study and performance of the keyboard music of Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, François Couperin, and other composers.
Russell discovered the Mendocino Coast in 1978, and finally moved from San Francisco to Little River for retirement in 2014. He has since become a listener and supporter of KZYX. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art, with an emphasis in Art History and Design. Besides an active musical life, he enjoys cooking, gardening, collecting art and drinking wine. He began his program on KZYX in April 2019.
