The Not Invisible Act was passed into law by Congress in an effort to identify and combat violence in tribal communities in the United States. The Yurok tribe recently hosted a commission hearing at the Blue Lake Rancheria that focused on the collection and reporting of data.

Free health care services are being offered in Round Valley this week as part of a training program with the Army reserves. Eileen Russell visited the clinic to find out more about the programs that benefit branches of the U.S. military reserves while also helping the public access healthcare.

Folks from Covelo gathered at the recreation center last week to meet with the Mendocino County Sheriff to discuss issues in Round Valley. Issues regarding underage drinking, violence, loose dogs, and the hesitations of people to cooperate with law enforcement were discussed at length.

Due to threats written on paper and uploaded to a Chromebook, Round Valley High School cancelled the Big Time and has been working with law enforcement to keep the campus safe. Eileen Russell reports.

May 5 is a National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, who suffer violence at much higher rates than the national average. In Round Valley, an event to bring attention to the epidemic of violence was held at the Hidden Oaks park.

December 19, 2021 — In election follow-up from November, Measure O passed with fifty eight percent in favor of the added sales tax. This tax will provide funding to libraries throughout Mendocino County. November 22, 2022 -- Caltrans received grant funding from the Clean California Act for a beautification project in downtown Covelo. Community members were invited to a meeting held at the Library Commons room where options for the road project downtown were discussed.
