Many Catholics around the world have called for the immediate canonization of Pope John Paul II.

But according to the rules, originally devised by John Paul himself, that can't happen for at least five years. NPR's Jennifer Ludden talks with Father Richard McBrien, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, about the road to sainthood.
