Willits Center for the Arts Small Works Call to Members

Time to get ready for Small Works!

Willits Center for the Arts is looking for member artists to exhibit smaller pieces (2D pieces 12" x 16" or under) for sale during our annual Small Works Show in December. It’s only $30 and up to become a member/renew and that can happen at the curator drop off in December! Paintings, sculpture, fabric, glass, prints, photographs, sets of greeting cards and more are welcome. Please plan to deliver your art to the gallery on Tuesday December 2, 2025, between 10am and 2pm. Show opens on December 6, 2025. Hey there: Are you a wanna- be gardener, but have no yard, or place to cultivate a garden/vegi garden ,or exercise that passion? Well look no further, then to our very own Community Garden here in" Happy Willits," located next to the Recreation Grove; (adjacent to the Social Service Dept.) A Non Profit Project. With once a year fee (like renting a plot) grow whatever you want, but must commit for a year, no abandoning it. Serious gardeners welcomed. There's limited spaces-sign ups begin in March. COLD WEATHER CLOTHING DRIVE
At the Ukiah Branch Library
November 2025 to February 2026

The Ukiah Branch Library is hosting a Cold Weather Clothing Drive starting in November 2025 and continuing through the month of February 2026.

Donate your clean and lightly used coats, sweaters, scarves, hats, and belts to the Ukiah Branch Library. These items will be set out for individuals to find new-to-them clothing during this cold and wet winter season.

How Working Women Shaped Mendocino
Exhibit Runs October 2, 2025– March 29, 2026
Opening Reception Honoring Local Businesswomen: Saturday, October 11, 4pm – 5:30pm
While men wielded the axes that built the town of Mendocino, women built the community that made it last. Look beyond the big trees and lumber mills to discover the vibrant world of “women’s work.” Through their own diaries, photos, and oral histories, this exhibit tells the lesser-known stories of entrepreneurs, nurses, artists, teachers, madams, and philanthropists who laid the foundation for the Mendocino we know today. Discover how their creativity, resilience, and hard work—both paid and unpaid—shaped the legacy of the Mendocino Coast in ways history books often overlook. Nominate your own local heroine, past or present during your visit. Bring a photo if you have one.

The Room Where It Happens is Carolyn Schneider's new show at Partners Gallery in Mendocino. Her drawings continue to present human/animal beings in a variety of settings: in the studio, during the green flash, trying to jump through hoops. Schneider's art is heavily influenced by narrative fiction and her work designing sets at the Mendocino Theatre Company. Schneider says, "Theatre is a black box that can be transformed into a world where different characters live out a story.”
The work is pastel, acrylic, and gouache on paper.

There is a Second Saturday Meet the Artist October 11, 5-7pm

Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday 11am through 5pm.

The tour will take place on Fish Rock Rd, in Gualala on Sunday, Nov 2nd from 12pm-2pm, weather permitting. Learn about the rich history of Mendocino Stone Ranch, take in our 30+ larger-than-life stone masonry art installations, including the Fish Rock Watchtower, learn about the artists behind the works, and the man who brought it all to life. $15-20 suggested donation, per person. Email contact@stoneranchmendo.com to RSVP. The tour happens on the first Sunday of every month so if you miss this month, there's always next month
