This course will prepare you to start your own homestead or small family farm dairy. The number of small dairy farms has declined by 80 percent in the last 30 years. There is a great need to revive the traditions, skills, and knowledge needed to provide ourselves and our families with healthy wholesome milk. We will meet six Saturdays from April through June and cover key topics such as breeding, weaning, the lactation cycle, keeping your animals healthy and well-fed, worming, making cheese, yogurt and kefir, legal issues, and how to design and build a good home for your dairy animals.
