Sean White, the Director of Water Resources for the city of Ukiah, addresses a crowd while state and federal aides, as well as Joaquin Esquivel, chair of the state water resources control board, look on.
State reps and a class of fifth-graders visited the wastewater treatment facility in Ukiah yesterday, to celebrate a billion gallons of recycled water since the project got up and running in 2019. Speakers stood in the sun next to purple pipe infrastructure as sprinklers irrigated a field with recycled water in the background.
Sean White, the Director of Water Resources for the city of Ukiah, took cover in the shade after the ceremony to reflect on the first three phases of the project and give a glimpse of the upcoming fourth phase.
Joaquin Esquivel, chair of the state water resources control board, was on hand to discuss the regional implications of the project.
