Helicopter Shot Down in Iraq, 15 U.S. Soldiers Dead

NPR's Peter Kenyon reports that 15 American soldiers were killed and 21 soldiers wounded today when a Chinook helicopter was apparently shot down near Fallujah, Iraq. It is the deadliest single strike against U.S. forces since the war began. Many on the flight were on the way out of the country for a break from the fighting.
