Fire erupted on Thursday afternoon east of Route 128 behind Elke Vineyards in Anderson Valley between Boonville and Philo, prompting a swift response from Anderson Valley firefighters and CalFire aircraft that largely suppressed the fire by early evening, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m., and by 5 p.m. had burned 20-25 acres, CalFire said. By 7 p.m., CalFire firefighting helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft had been called off, and firefighters were seen mopping up after the blaze.

Three fires broke out in Lake County on Monday but they were quickly contained.

The first occurred around 2 p.m. in a field across from the 16000 block of Bryant Road in Lower Lake.  The blaze, which was between three to five acres and drew a response of multiple agencies, had its forward progress halted when it ran into a nearby creek 30 minutes later.

It was reported as contained around 3 p.m.

Children impacted by the Clayton fire received early Christmas presents this past weekend, thanks to a toy drive organized by a group of friends. From the Brick Hall in Lower Lake Sunday, presents were distributed to 31 families and more than 50 children impacted by the August fire.
