Aug 20, 2018 -- The Rise Arts Tour came to the Veterans Memorial Hall in Ukiah on Sunday, August 19. It included screen printing, a concert, and workshops on how to make street murals and create demonstration songs.
We'll hear from Cata Elizabeth Romo and David Solnit about the power of visual art and their plans for a giant mural at the September 8 climate march in San Francisco. Then we'll make our way across the hall and hear from Frankie, The Last Emcee, and Lu Aya. They are three of five New York Peace Poets whose songs have accompanied a wide variety of social and environmental justice movements. Finally, we'll slip outside into the smoke and talk with Alicia Littletree Bales of the Mendocino Environmental Center and KMEC Radio, about why she thinks it's so important to take on climate change right now, during our ever-lengthening season of catastrophic fire.
There is a special harmonic treat at the very end of the story.
