CORPORATIONS AND DEMOCRACY JULY 9, 2013, 1 pm  NUCLEAR DISARMAMENT SMOKE AND MIRRORS

features Jackie Cabasso, Executive Director of Western States Legal Foundation and author of "Rhetoric vs. Reality: Nuclear Dangers in a Time of Growing Global Economic and Environmental Crisis."  Cabasso notes that in Berlin, Obama announced a U.S.-led summit in 2016 on securing nuclear materials but never mentioned the first-ever UN High Level Meeting on disarmament scheduled for this coming September.  He talked about negotiating with the Russians to reduce tactical nuclear weapons in Europe - but said nothing about responding to Dutch and German appeals to remove U.S. nuclear weapons from their bases.  Cabasso says current disarmament discourse is grossly distorted.
